S Club tour of Scotland - progress...

Hi everyone

As some of you already know I've been unable to join the S Club tour of Scotland, despite having organised it No worries, they have been keeping me up to date on what has been happening.

It's already been an interesting couple of days, with dramas starting yesterday before some of them even left home...

Several had early (i.e. 6am) starts to get to the lunchtime meet point on the edge of The Pennines. Sadly for Andrew S2 he needed to bleed his clutch just before setting off an hour late.

Later in the day Pompey Tim from...er...Pompey (!) needed to leave the group at Carlisle to get a suspect wheel balancing issue resolved. But he couldn't so limped on at a max of 55mph to last nights hotel. This morning the group left Loch Lomond and headed north for the Applecross Pass and beyond while Tim headed south to Glasgow where the prop shaft was removed & fixed.

I understand he had an "interesting" run up the A87 while his co-driver Greg tried to catch the rest up this afternoon!!

I think they've all arrived at tonights hotel, I (or they!) will keep you posted....

The latest news, which will sound familiar to those of you on last years Alps trip, is that Jaye R is apparently just behind the lead car at all times but he doesn't seem keen to actually be at the front...!!

I'm glad to report that the 'revlimiter' doesn't appear to be working although she has had her eyes shut on some sections (Applecross)

Jaye was driving very quickly yesterday, oddly enough in 2nd place a lot of the time.

With the variety of routes available today it seems like the cars split into several groups this afternoon, with the usual suspects going for the full on option of making it all the way to Durness, the most northwesterly village in the UK...



Apparently Jaye left his rev limiter with her book and a glass of wine at the lunch stop. Hope he remembers to pick her up on the way back...

Whatever you did today guys, I hope you enjoyed it up there. Fingers crossed the weather holds for your run over the rollercoaster Cairngorms to your Stovies tomorrow

PS, I've just checked the website for tomorrow nights pub/restaurant and it currently looks like they have 13 beers on draught

Reading this brings back pleasant memories of pootling around Scotland at a leisurely pace last year without ever getting lost or taking any wrong turns

"That" road to/from Ullapool got loads of positive comments from the guys earlier. But I dont think anyone managed to pootle along it quite as quickly as you and the others managed on your bikes last year when we were there mate!
As for you not getting lost, there is only 1 junction north of Ullapool and you missed it!!
And today fuel in Durness was apparently....£1.55

What junction ......fuel, pah, wait until August as a few weeks ago in France/Belgium/Holland it averaged 1.75 Euros, so call it about £1.70

Well I just got a phone call from my folks who have been on a long weekend away in Scotland.

Apparently lots of TVR S's flew past them today on the Ullapool road! They wondered if I knew about it

Well done guys they thought it was a brilliant sight!

Oh and apparently there was a straggler... own up!
