Rocker Gasket Swap

As well as sorting the clutch master cylinder leak I am building up to swapping my rocker gaskets as they are starting to seep. What gasket sealant should I use to complement the cork gaskets? Will hylomar suffice or do I need something different. TIA Damon

Blue hylomar if you need to use anything. The rocker cover side of the gasket should be self-adhesive anyway.

Don't use instant gasket or any of that stuff - you'll only squeeze it out (or in) and risk blocking an oilway if a bit detaches.

Rocker covers shouldn't really need any extra sealent, mine didn't the cork gaskets were fine on their own.

Just be careful how much you torque them up. 7Nm only, they are very easy to snap

No sealant should be required but worth buying genuine Ford gaskets (still available), some after market items are a terrible fit.

I changed mine some time ago and I recall TVRGIT telling me that the genuine Ford gaskets have the metal pins in the cork so that the gasket is not squeezed out of shape. The cheaper ones dont have these pins and are easier to over tighten causing a leak.
I used the Ford gaskets and its fine, no sealer required.

You're right Steve, I did say that the proper Ford gaskets are better.

I didn't go into all that, because this topic comes up often on here, and I wrote a full "how to do it" a few months ago. A quick search (much quicker than expecting somebody to write it all out again) reveals:

Thanks for the advice will get the pukka gaskets to avoid creating myself any problems!
