Very little travel in Gaz Golds

Nick's car is rapidly approaching completion, and once the body was on with various bits inside, one of his tutors noticed he has around an inch of travel in his rear shocks before they will hit their bump stops. Is this normal? His car is fitted with the older S1 style trailing arms.

My original Konis had extremely long soft bump stop rubbers which made contact after about an inch of travel - but there was still quite a lot of compression on the rubber before they came up hard. If yours still has the original rubbers, that's probably normal.
