bouncy oil pressure

my cars normal oil pressure is
50 when cold and moving
around 50 when warm and moving and about 26/27 when idle
but just lately when idling warm or cold it bounces around 30 to 40 but goes as normal to 50 when driving
it still runs good ive checked the oil and its fine any ideas!?

Likely as not the sender unit. My S2 had an identical problem recently and the sender unit was the problem.

Vodkakid,

The sender unit is located on the lower right hand side of the engine block, (when looking at the car from the front). It is a relatively large metal barrel shape and sometimes has a black rubber boot covering it to protect it from dirt. The end of the unit has a small nut and thread which secures a single, (usually black) wire.
