Sorry to hear about the spar.
About the roof seal, yeah well easy to change, get some near from wedge automotive as he normally has some in stock and there the right lenght any from what i can remember(from 2years ago)not that expensive.
Make a note of the shape of rubber and which part is glued to the roof as it is easy to get confused as yours is proberly a little mishaped.
Glued on using some waterproof glue and held down while setting using a couple of those plastic g-clamps,few books etc.
Ps It did really hamer down today so i wouldnt be surprised if a few more soft tops had leaked.Luckerly mine didnt but had a few dribbles near the stitching on the back window.
All the best

I thought there was a drainage grommet in the bottom of the footwell under the carpet?
Correct.
If you are unsure where the water is coming in, check the wiper spindles - they may need re-sealing as water collects in the indentations (or always park facing downhill ).
