Thanks guys. Next instalment next month!

I think I might also have the following month sorted as well!

So - I need an article for May - anybody got any ideas?

There's always talk about radiators - source of (Sherpa van), tailoring to fit, recoring, what to do when your new rad is too effective, etc, etc. Definitive guide with pics would be good.
Same could be said for Batteries too.
Brake upgrades?

I would need somebody to write that. As far as I know, there are only 2 types of radiator - well, same radiator, slightly different fittings apparently. The Sherpa van isn't a source - a Sherpa one won't fit, it needs extra cores. Any half-decent radiator specialist should be able to recore the one you have - I got mine done by a man in a unit behind the high street.

There is also an alloy option but I don't know anybody who has tried it, at the price.

Overcooling could be caused by a number of reasons, and I don't think the club could be responsible for giving a "cure" for the symptoms, that might actually hide the real "cause" and damage the engine or something else.

Personally I don't see the problem with batteries: check measurements, buy battery that fits, make sure it has enough cranking amps and terminals are the right way round.

Again, I'd need someone else to write it - I have no interest in upgrading the brakes on my car (unless the OE bits become unavailable). I had a volunteer to write an article on this before, but it just never actually happened. I didn't even get a reply to my second email asking if they had remembered.

Any takers for any of these?

Andrew,

When I had mine recored it was a straight Sherpa listed version. I think the issue is that the Sherpa has 2 types listed, a "normal" and a "high performance" and it was the latter that was used in mine. My recorer looked at the radiator and just said "Sherpa Van - no problem" as he looked in the engine bay, we then looked it up in his book purely for price. Of course the end pieces could be different with the core the same? Who knows

My understanding is that it's sherpa end pieces with extra cores - my radiator repairer recognised the end pieces straight away.

Just proves thoiugh - I'm not the man to write an article about this!

Nicely written article and handy photo's ( I tend to get carried away doing big jobs like this and forget all about the camera )

one small error if I was going to be pedantic, top seat belt mount does not go through to chassis, its purely into the body tub getmecoat

Aye I know - my first thought as the screwdriver disappeared into the chassis the first time was "Oh goody, I've got something to write about next month"...
