Hi all
has anyone got advice on upgrades for the head lights
mine are useless have changed bulbs but not a lot better
any ideas please

Mini (original) headlights fit. I fitted crystal halogen ones and they were a huge improvement.

I bought Wipac quad optics and fitted halfords extreme brilliance +95% claimed
Improvement but still legal 55/65 W load.
I think they are a great improvement.
You could also replace connections in the loom near the bonnet hinges
Finally you could rewire the circuit so the switches
Throw solenoids to take power direct from the battery to the
Bulbs so you get the full 12V at the business end

I've been looking into doing this, a couple of £5 relays, fuse holders, and some wire its not more than a £20 job.

Beware of the dim/dip module though. With that still in your dip beams will come on full brightness with the side lights on instead of 10-20% brightness as the low power will still be plenty to activate the relay. I believe I am right in saying that dim dip can be legally removed though.

Hi think i might give the wipac and bulbs a go
i did change the connections last year think the rewire
is a bit beyond me they will never work again if i
did that.

They much brighter than the original units and have a sharper cut off to the beam. They claim to be 25% brighter than units with the beam pattern in the glass. They are E marked with glass fronts and look great on the car.
Fitted LED side lights at the same time.

I got a pair of the Freeform lights from S V C and they're superb - suddenly, it feels as if I have proper headlamps again and can actually see where I'm going.

Did you get the £70 ones
or the new budget ones (£30) is there
any difference apart from
UK spec and price the reflector
looks different to me

Xenon is the way to go, these have had very good reviews in a couple of magazines I've seen,

Got them myself and combined with a new pair of Lucas H4 headlamps results are very good

I saw them side by side at the classic car show in November and the difference in the quality of build is very noticable, the guy from SVC also told the light pattern was far more clear cut and it gives better visibality as well. I've Wipaq Quad Optics so wont be changng unless one gets damaged and againt the SVC guy said they were as good or even possibly better than the expensive freeform lens but dont look as upto date
