Roof alignment
Discussion
Does anybody know if it is possible to adjust the alignment of the roof? I seem to have a gap on the passenger side between the roof and the window allowing the window to meet with the rubber sill, but on the drivers side the window touches the roof, holding it out slightly. It seems to cause a slight leak when parked on a hill.
On some cars it matters whether you close the door with the window up, or raise the window with the door closed (if you see what I mean!). There's a rubber strip along the edge of the roof which is supposed to sit on the outside of the glass, but if the seal is tired or the glass is too high and you shut the door with the window up, the seal ends up trapped on the inside of the glass.
Clear as mud, eh?

Is the front window runner secure (not rattling) and has it still got the foam/rubber thing at the top to stop the glass smacking into the alloy? This determines how far up the window comes, if the runner is too high or you've lost the end stop it will come up too high which might cause the problem you've got.

I do understand what your saying, but the window is overlapping the roof by about 1-2mm which enough to hold it way from the sill. Doesn’t matter with the top down though
Not actually sure if it has a rubber thingy, I’ll be talking it out tonight so I’ll have a look there is a lot of wind noise at speed, I suppose if its coming up to far it may push its way out. If it were missing where would I get one? I’m used to my minis where I can just wait for a show and you're more or less guaranteed to find the part you want.

I got mine from Team Central about 2 years ago. They're in receivership but still trading (I think) so might be worth a call. Otherwise, David Gerald seems a pretty good source of bits and bobs.

I look at the car briefly at the weekend, the rubber stop doesn’t seem to be there. The back of the window is actually hitting the folding hoop where the canvas goes over, I tried pushing the window forward but it didn’t seem loose, I’m not sure if it its the rubber stop causing it, I used so card just to make the difference and the back of the window still hit. Although the window sat properly on the upper sill. Any ideas?
I had problems with my window motor when I first got my car (turned out to be a broken wire inside the insulation where it passes through the door). I seem to remember that there was a screw on the motor which you could use to limit the window travel. Once I had the door trim off, I also found that the runners were loose. It might be worth taking your door trim off and having a look.
Is the door positioned right? Sounds almost like it might have sagged on its hinges.
