How big a job is lifting the body off an S1? Anyonw know the weight of the body too?

What is the most bhp anyone has had out of the N/A Ford V6? (including those with increased displacement. But not forced induction)

Is there enough power in a standard 'S' to get the tail out in the dry? Or is it only in the wet you can drift one?

Sorry for the inane questions, but I have done a search and didn't find any answers.

Thanks in advance.

the weight is not that heavy 6 lads can lift easily (8 better) total body weight is abouth 956Kg the majority being engine and chassis

They have a nice balance of grip and handling, but with decent power in rwd you can provoke power oversteer if you are reasonably close to the limit. The V6 won't give you wild straight-line power slides though. The open diff can also make the handling somewhat unpredictable on very uneven roads when it can't decide whether to slide both rear wheels or just the inner one. You will soon get used to that, though. And on smoother surfaces (and especially on race circuits etc) the handling balance of a well set up V6 S is superb. Somehow these cars seem to give much more direct feedback than the later models. I don't know why, but after riding in a soft comfy Griffith/Chimaera, getting back behind the wheel of an S feels like a go-kart in comparison.

Fitting a Granada LSD makes a huge difference to these cars IMHO it still slides but in a far better way.

Thank you for the replies gents. The Granada LSD sounds like a good idea. Not many S's in the classifieds to choose from though frown

Ged, the S is perhaps the most fun TVR I've driven.

Like you I have a cerb 4.5 which is an awesome brute and i love it. I also have a V8S and a 350i, even so I deeply regret selling my S2.

The V8S has far more power, is much quicker, better put together and very solid.

However, my S2 was just so much fun and for so little money. Great cars.

Another current S2 owner can't post at the moment but has had a chim before, sold that and is on his second S2 often saying they are more fun (there's nothing wrong with a chim at all, just a different car).
