General insurance question

I'm hoping to buy another car today but it's not taxed or insured. Insurance is easy via phone, the problem is the tax. Is there a delay in the insurance appearing on the Motor Insurers Database that the tax people check?

I don't want to drive 240 miles to find that I like the car but can't drive it home legally......... I wan't aware that no tax invalidates your insurance either.

we had this recently with our sons car it takes about 48 hours to get on the
dater base if hes a dealer they can get it for you with there insurance
but you cant do that on a bank holiday

Cheers Barry, on Saturday he asked for two weeks delay in the sale then rang yesterday to say can I get it asap as he's got another car himself. He should have left it taxed.............
