OZ 8 Spoke Refurb Recommendations

I’m thinking of having my wheels refurbed this winter and am looking for some recommendations. Looking at the threads there’s a few of us who may be doing this so can those of you who have had work done give us the benefit of your experience please? Personally I’d like the original diamond cut & lacquer finish but there’s lots of finishes and it’s all down to personal taste so what ever you have had done can you let us know what you thought of the finished job? As there may be a lot of responses to this one, to keep it simple here are some headings – 1.Finish, 2.Who did it & Location, 3.Your verdict, 4. Would you recommend them, 5. How long ago was the work done & what is the finish like now, 6. Cost. Thanks to all in advance. Joe

I had my 8 spokes done a couple of years ago by Pristine Alloy Wheels in Milton Keynes. I seem to remember that it cost around £40 per wheel to diamond cut and laquer them. They also managed to repair a fairly deep scrape in one of the wheels (at extra cost). They also had a courier service that picked the wheels up and returned them.

The wheels seem to have held up well, but they haven't seen a vast amont of use in the last 12 months due to the rebuild.

I suspect the laquer will go cloudy in time but as I'm lazy and didn't want to be polishing the wheels all the time it suited me.

I had mine diamond cut, painted and lacquered and they look exactly standard.

Very friendly people to deal with and good turn around.

I believe all 4 wheels cost £250. This was about 4 months ago. Condition now is still pristine.

I would definitely recommend them.

I want mine doing in the near future but have heard no matter how good a job done, if laquered the weather will still get under within a couple of years and you're back to square one?

Someone on here (Longers perhaps?) had his "shadow chromed" which I think he said was a two stage paint process? I can't find any pics of them but saw them in the felsh/metal at SCH this year and was impressed. That will be my preference and it would be really helpful if a pic of a shadow chromed wheel could be added to this thread - please.

I also used the Polished Wheel company in Cornwall this summer. Generally a fantastic finish but one one wheel the laquer has flaked where the center badge has caught the edge, so I am worried it will flake very soon.

The one in the foreground is the one - is it me or does the effect make the wheels appear to "dish"? The ones on the background seem "flatter", if you know what I mean.

I think the slightly darker, almost antharcite colour will contrast nicely with my Cardinal Red S.

Exactly why I went with the paint option. Many many miles later and they still look as good as the day they were done and all it takes to clean them is a wipe with a damp cloth.

And because it's a paint finish you can vary the amount of black/shadow to suit your car.

Advantage of the shadow chrome is the spokes seem to go into the shadows (the dish effect mentioned above) unlike those painted in regular silver which look to big and bulky for my taste. Not the cheapest option but no regrets from me
