removal of rear shocks advice !

hi all

i'm taking off my rear shocks , nearside came off no problem
offside i cant get to the nut at the top as its about 6mm from the body and cant get the spanner in
also the spring makes it hard to get the spanner in there


my options as i see it is - compress the spring it may give me more room ?

- last resort cut a hole in the fibre glass body behind the rear seat to get to the nut

- is there such a thing as a cranked spanner bent at 90 degrees so i cab come from the top

any advice if you have had the same problem

you need a decent open ended spanner, not a ring spanner - you can just get it on between the spring and the body.

the body of my car is very tight to the nut and spring on that side , perhaps a fresh head in the morning
and a struggle may help lol

As said, access shouldn't be a problem with an open end (3/4" AF) spanner ?

I always keep an eye open for useful size spanners at markets/car boots etc, they come in very handy if special shaped or cranked spanners need to be "made".

Mine is also tighter to the body on one side than the other, but you can still (just) get a spanner on.

thanks for the advice as you have done this before and confirmed how tight it is, you've given me a bit more confidence to carry on !
i hope with a bit more patience i'll get a open ended spanner on there
