Didn't bother to look around for a s/s neck, I've settled for brass (from local rad. repair shop)and silver soldered it in.



Now just a matter of fabricating a mounting plate somewhere on the chassis

I've had the plastic one on a bracket in a similar position for some months now (inc. nearly 1800 mile trip to Italy) with no problems ?

But then perhaps I've got the pressure cap on the right one

Norm you cheeky and you said in the email you wouldn't be posting on line for fear of the hornets nest . Crux is if the expansion tank is above the swirl pot then gravity will assist in keeping the system full which ever way the caps are round. If below the swirl pot then you are relying on all the connections being tight enough to not such in any air and the contraction of the water to draw the "overflow" back into the system. The contraction effect will be better with the pressure cap on the expansion tank as this way round there will be less restrictions to flow in the direction expansion tank to swirl pot (if the caps are the other way round the restriction is the bleed hole that allows backflow)
