As you all know just got the Maserati and now need to start working on it to get it to my standard. The
paintwork is in 'Swan white' and could do with a good polishing and cutting back, trouble is i dont really want to use anything to harsh but would like to use something with enough oomph in it to work. I can get my hands on an electric mop specially for the job but dont have a clue how to use one.
Any suggestions on what polish to use and how to go about it?

Funky

Don't know about the cutting side of it but I have just spent the last three hours applying Autoglym super resin polish followed by the high gloss polish to the motor. It's so shinny at the mo you could probably shave in your reflection, well worth the effort.
Looking forward to seeing and hearing your new toy at the next VW S meet, don't forget there's a Griff500 with your name on it somewhere and at the current rate you change your cars I should think in about six months time!!!!

Mike,

MER applyed neat is good for what you want, I normally have to do this to each car I buy to bring it up to what you mentioned "My standard"

Hope the new one is up to what you expected?

Cheers,

Dave.

P.S have you found out how much that oval clock on your dash is yet?, I can't remember the figure but it's quite high.

Blimey!!

I thought it was about £300 - That's bad enough.

I saw one of your cars in a scrappy after it was written off, but before I knew the value of the clock.

If only I knew then...

Oh to have Champagne money to accompany the champagne taste!!!
Champagne taste Cava money, those Tamoras are growing on me by the day, would just have to put the V8 sound track in the CD player though
Seriously though Mike could not a watch/clock repairer have a look at this hewn from a block of gold clock?

For paintwork cutting, i generally avoid T-Cut and use the less harsh, Halfors colour restorer. Also very good at getting tar off. it doesnt seem to strip paint and gets a good film of crap off the paintwork. Ive had a few white cars and always used this about once every 6 months when the car lived outside.

Wax - Stick with AutoGlym unless you can afford Zymol ! I have use the extra gloss polish one and agree its pretty damn good. Almost too good, makes the car mirror like.
