not sure sump will come off even with engine lifted, clearing the crankshaft maybe not a problem but may foul on oil pick up pipe and strainer ?

Lets hope I'm wrong ! ( I often am )

Anyone know how the sump pickup is attached?

I'm guessing it will be a flange on the pickup to the bottom of the block - so you may be able to drop the sump an inch or so then undo the pickup pipe so you can remove the sump and pickup together.
It may be a bit fiddly to get back together though, and don't forget once the sump is off it will be dripping oil all over the place - so don't do it on block paving

It might also help if you remove the anti roll bar.
