Remote oil filter on V6

Having just changed the oil and struggled with accsses to the oil filter I was wondering if anybody had changed it to a remote filter using componants from Burton Power. It appears that an adapter fitted to the block some Goodridge hose and a remote filter plate could inprove matters if a suitable location for the filter was found.

Don't know - sounds a lot harder than changing the filter to be honest - it's fiddly right enough but I've never had any real bother!

If you use the smaller depth filter and access from underneath its fairly straight forward. HTH

Damon could you tell me which filter you use, the one I fitted is a Unipart GFE 624 it give about 25mm clearance when screwed down.

funny you should mention remote filters, been thinking about an oil cooler but not enough clearance for adaptor plate so guess a remote filter could be a solution (and more expense) ?

Don't find changing current filter an issue but I have moved the expansion tank thing out of the way and fitted brake master cylinder with reservoir on top, this gives quite reasonable access to the filter, and its not as if its a job you need to do every week !

You're right about the fuel filter - especially the fact that it's mounted on a bendy bracket that twists as you're trying to undo the unions, so you run out of spanner space.

I run a 2.9 12v in my Tasmin race car. There isn't enough room for the standard filter so I use the short dumpy filter meant for a TVR Tuscan. Fits straight on. I don't use a remote as the extra hose and brackets all add to the weight.

Wizzer - mine is a Unipart GFE 264 not sure if 624 in your post is a typo or another filter that fits the S. There are a few listed on the alt part list. Hope this helps.

Can someone tell me how easy (or hard) it is to remove the oil filter on my TVR 280i V6 Wedge. I have read somewhere that the exhaust manifold has to be removed, is this correct? If so there doesn't look like much clearance to even remove that?
It already has the short filter fitted & I have purchased the same again, as you all may have gathered this is the 1st time I've had a go at changing the oil & filter since purchasing the car a year ago so any help here would be much appreciated.

That doesn't sound at all likely. You would have to be barking mad to fit an oil filter that required the manifolds to come off.
