S3 oil pressure

Hi All

The oil pressure indicated has started fluctuating and when the engine is hot its rather low - well under 25psi at tick over.
I have changed the oil and filter with some improvement and then removed the sender and put in an old 4 inch brass gauge. Tick over pressure warm is indicated at about 45PSI and cold about 60PSI so it looks like an electrical problem.
My suspicion is the sender - maybe living in false hope of not having to remove that b dash again. The cause of my suspicion is the fluctuation - I put a meter on the sender and the resistance to earth changed by 50 ohms a lot.

Anybody else had this problem and any info on the replacement sender ? I cant remember if a Granada had an oil pressure gauge.

It is probably the sender unit which is not the most reliable but easy to replace. You can get a new one from TVR Car parts and no doubt other places too; easiest way to replace it is to lean over the engine from the off side (waving your legs in the air as you do it!). The symptoms of failing sender do seem to vary from just stopping (ie. no pressure at all apparently) to going up and down illogically and others as well.
