Had my S on the road for about 2 months since my dodgy starter motor problem, I ended up replacing it with a re-con Ford 2.9 unit. The old problem was that it just used to stick and refused to start.

Anyway, today I'm out and about with the roof off, running around in the S, stop starting (with no starting problems) when I go to fill up with fuel.

I've just filled up and noticed a rather nice girl in a 911 waiting behind me for fuel, we exchange glances, I go to pay and notice a few people admiring the car as they fill up and a few looking out at it from the petrol station. I pay for the fuel..I trot out, exchange glances with 911 girl, jump in, put key in...everyone's waiting for the throb to start.. and.... "phut" the starter motors jammed

I have to push the car out of the way, 911 girl is now more interested in Saxo boy, and everyone now is giving me the "Ahh, TVR's are unreliable" look.

AGHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!

What did cheer me up was driving through Marlow high street in convoy with a Boxster, MGF, and Z3 all with the hoods up and me with mine down.

Bunch of girls

I'm sorry for what happened to you on the station. It must have been like a TV news speaker loosing his set of false teeth out of his mouth, while he's on antenna.

The convoi of Z3, Boxter and MGF with closed roof confirms clearly the thesis of these cars being "hairdresser's cars". The ultimate of this breed would have been a SLK equipped with haemorrhoid rings plus welded roof to avoid any water intrusion.

Would be interested to know the outcome of your starter problem. It might just be a bad mass. Did you clean the contacts, when fitting the new starter, and protect them with Coma No Corrode or similar. I believe many of TVR electrical problems should be cured by giving regular attention to all the mass points.

With all respect to, and without offending TVR driving hairdressers with haemorrhoids
