FUEL CONSUMPTION FIGURES S3C

hi all

i know its on here somewhere ! but what fuel consumption figures are you getting with your v6
say on a run figures and normal around town spirited driving etc

i've done a check today on my car for around town/spirited driving and i'm only getting 18 to 20 mpg
does this seem correct i thought i would be getting 25 mpg

Sure i used to avarage 30 on long runs, maybe more.

I've had mine 7 years, done about 30,000 miles in it, and I don't have a clue what the fuel consumption is! Mid-20s probably but I don't care.

i just want to make sure she's running correctly
i know that there are some sensors that if faulty can give bad fuel consumption if not checked ?

if low 20s is correct for spirited driving i just want to see what others are getting to check my car is ok

I think 30mpg is realistic on motorway journeys i got that on a hol from blackpool to pembroke last year

Only filled up once so far and not used to the car yet but in pretty mixed driving I got 27.8mpg. Suspect I could get it quite a bit lower ;-)

Will do Keith. Gone TVR mad (is there any other way?) as my other half bought a 3000M yesterday. Chap we bought in from had put some fuel in it for us. The gauge read full but I'm hoping it wasn't as a fag packet calculation suggests about 16 MPG on the run home - eek!

So, might be doing the miles in the nice economical S!

When I had my s3c, on a motorway run at 70-80mph with no heavy acceletation I returned 30mpg..little under of you have a heavy right foot.

Hi,

with mpg I can not say something. But in L/100km I can say something.

My S3C has a consumation between 7,8 l/100km an 10,5 l/100km.
Mixed (Town, Highway and Freeway) in Rushhour nearly 10.
French Highway with open car 8.
Freeway with closed Car (140km/h) 8,5.
Freeway with open car (140km/h) 9,5.

they are very good figures ! if my maths are correct ?

100 km = 62.1371 miles

10.5 litres = 2.3076 gal = 27 mpg

7.8 litres = 1.7142 gal = 36.2 mpg

they are very good mpg figures i'd be very happy if i can get near that
i have been driving the car quite hard last week so perhaps that why i'm getting below 20 mpg = 20 miles per 4.55 litres

i've been driving the car now at a much slower pace ! when i next fill her up fingers crossed it should improve

"does anyone know what to check if i still have high fuel consumption" , are there any sensors that could be faulty
the car has had a full service in may and new air flow meters fitted , she runs fine with no signs of any problems

any possible answers on things to check re high fuel consumption would be very helpful , cheers keith

Asked the same question on here about my V8S and it was suggested to look at the temp sender (behind the distributor on a V8S)
Car could be over fueling because the engine could be running 'cold' all the time - hence high consumption.
Have not replaced this yet on mine, sio cannot confirm this was the fault (other suggestion was air flow meter, which you have changed)

filled the car up today , been driving a bit slower on a+b roads and returned 25 mpg
so i'm sure the cars running ok ! just have to keep off the gas lol

No idea. Fuel gauge hasn't been working for a year. I just fill it with petrol every 200 miles.

Last time I checked, she was returning 23mpg on average. Economy isn't usually on my mind

Checked the fuel history on my S3 at the weekend, works out to 27.4 mpg over the last 3000 miles with a lot of short journey's. I use the torque and change early most of the time as its mostly town driving with a coldish engine. Includes the runway session at S club

Almost identical. Use the torque a lot and not too heavy on the accelerator when being spirited gives me 27.3mpg over the last 3600 miles. About half done on motorways/good A roads and the rest short trips under 20 miles on urban roads.

Just had a rolling road tune so will keep an eye on consumption to see if it changes.

Ouch - I'm hoping fixing the blowing manifold will help it at least get over 20mpg. Fingers crossed!
At least the insurance is cheap.
