Expansion tank / Swirl pot

Hi all,
I am planning to overhaul the cooling system on my 2.9 V6 S in the next couple of months and I am currently in the process of listing all the parts that I want to replace & where suitable replacements can be obtained. This process has thrown up a couple of questions:
1) The metal collar in the expansion tank is knackered, I would like to replace the original expansion tank with a like-for-like replacement. I understand that the original part is from a rover SD1 - and is no longer available (I have checked rimmer brothers). Does anyone know of anywhere that I can source a replacement (e.g. SD1 specialists / rover breakers)?
2) I am planning to replace the swirl pot with an aluminium one from TVR car parts. The picture on their web site makes the ally swirl pot look really nice. Has anyone got any experiences with the TVR car parts swirl pot? I realise it can be bad etiquette to post feedback like this on PH (particularly if its negative) so feel free to PM me on this one.
3) I am planning to fit swan neck stainless steel pipes from ACT, they inform me that if I use these pipes I'II have to upgrade to an S4/griff/chim otter switch. Please can someone let me know if this uprated switch will plug straight into the original electrical connections?

The expansion tank doesn't take any pressure at all - provided you have the pressure cap on the swirl pot (lets not go there!)
I wouldn't worry too much about the collar on the expansion tank provided you can get the lid on one way or another. Interesting that you say yours is a metal collar - my expansion tank is 100% plastic.
The new otter switch has the standard rectangular connectors that take the push fit crimp on type connectors - so no worries there.

btw mines currently on the swirl pot proving it works both ways round!!!!My expansion tank has a metal top like Ralph's, and mine doesn't have the "pressure relief" blow out mentioned by others (i.e. the common leak site). Hence this is the reason I suspect TVR issued that tech note reversing a previous tech note for the location of the pressure cap.
My hypothesis is that the donor manufacturer changed their design at some point from plastic with inbuilt relief to metal topped without the relief and as the TVR design (ex expansion tank) can run with the pressure cap either way round they issued the note to put the cap on the swirl pot as it covered both designs of expansion tank.

To add to your hypothesis: The part code for the SD1 expansion tank also matches the part code for the dolomite (sprint?) expansion tank. I have some slightly dodgey info that only the SD1 expansion tanks were used on the S. But maybe both were used and the difference is the pressure relief hole at the top?
