My S1’s servo has had a case of dreaded rust infestation. I have a conundrum, do I try and get a replacement from a breakers/new or do I try and get a later Master cylinder and servo as on the later S2, 3,4. Question: Does it fit? Are they the same? What does it come from? The bible says it’s a Sierra type; I’ve also heard it’s off a Saab 900/9000
Does any body know for sure?

My early S2.9 (89) had a Saab 9000 Servo on it. It does depend on where your brake fluid reservoir is located. If it is located on the bulkhead then the Servo is most likely from the Saab. If however it is located on the master cylinder then it is most likely a Ford.
I would suggest changing the master cylinder with the servo as a matter of course as if the servo has rotted through then the master cylinder will not have been used to the proper loading it should have had and will most likely give up the ghost fairly shortly after changing the Servo.
As for the Servo I would seriuosly consider a breaker for it as its location on the Saab keeps it dry and unmalested. The master cylinder though I would replace new for old. Thats the way I did them and have no issues since from either of them.
