Roof Hoop Seal Fitting Advice

Hi guys - advice needed please. I have bought a new roof seal from Woolies as mine is worn in the centre and looks scruffy. Is it easy to fit i.e Pull off and push new one on or should I add some sealant before pushing the new one on.

All advice welcome as always.

Still not driving much as house extension is taking up most of my time. S is currently under cover in neighbours garage as my garage is housing my old kitchen. For sale on ebay if you need a new one. Excellent condition and includes appliances!

The seal has a metal core inside and if the gap width is the correct size you don't need any sealant. It is a simple job just take care you don't cut it too short.

Thanks Han Maybe a job for the weekend, will remove old one and cut it to length first.

Just a thought, dont go off the old one exactly, lots of seals tend to shrink when fitted, best to have it a bit long and to bunch it a bit then you can stretch it if it does shrink

This is the one I bought which I HOPE is right, but there is another one 266A with a bigger sponge bead and will cope with a 4mm edge.

I got this one - 266-BLK Black PVC snappon with sponge bead 16mm (5/8"). Herringbone patterned PVC carrier. Widely used door seal.

I think you have the right one. It's a very common size (also available from East Kent Trim Supplies as "Targa Seal" No.135). As mentioned earlier, it's a push fit, but don't cut it too short.

The larger version (266A) may fit the long seal that goes round the doors and screen.

I bought mine through David Gerald and is a perfect fit. I tried a cheaper one first as well but had to throw away becuase of bad fit.

By the way, why don't you replace the rest (doors, windscreen) as well, it's the same stuff.

Bought mine through Woolies and fitted earlier this year. Did round the doors aswell. I did not use any sealant and have had no problems. Bit of a wrestle in places to fit, particularly round some of the bends. I fitted first then cut to the required length.
