Modified Downpipes

I have recently modified my exhaust and thought I would share the results. I have always thought that the S exhaust system is very tightly mounted until I recently had cause to remove my downpipes amd discovered that the ex system is in fact relativley softly mounted and that it is the lack of flex in the actual downpipes them selves that make it feel very rigid, what this in fact does is actually transmit lots of noise etc into the cabin, here is what I did,







Firstly I got a pair of these flexy pipes

and had them inserted by a local welder I know into my downpipes refitted them and I have to say the difference is noticeable, there is less drone in the cabin and for some reason the exhaust actually sits higher up thereby giving me a bit more ground clearance when entering my drive, being as I have got a week to go before a trip to the Nurburgring it will make it a slightly quieter place to be.

Tried something very similar a while back to try and relieve the stress on front of silencer (kept splitting)



Unfortunately I found that on the "over-run" they acted like bellows, the viabration on down pipes was horrendous so they were soon consigned to the "seemed a good idea at the time department" !



Hope you have better luck with yours.

PS they are available should anyone else fancy trying them ?
