Hi All,
After a year of dreaming and stalking the site I think I may just be in the position to finally pick up an S.
Just a couple of questions I would like advice on if possible.
MPG – It will be my daily so I have to take this into account, what should I budget for.
Insurance – Im 22 with 1 year NCB, quotes so far have been silly. Who do you younger chaps go with?

Do you have another car?
You might find it difficult to get insured at all at your age with it as your main car - most insure as a classic with limited mileage but to do that you have to have a 'normal' daily car. Typically 3000 or 5000 miles limit insured as a classic.
Either way I think your insurance will be quite expensive.

Hmm, maybe that will be the best way to go.
At the moment i have three cars, my scenic for day to day. A JZR kit car for the weekends and a 2cv which is mid resto.
I had been planning to sell the Scenic and JZR and run an S everyday.
Could possibly tax and insure the 2cv and leave it dumped on the driveway, an S could then be my 'second' car.
Any MPG info would be appreciated, Mitch

I'm currently getting 23mpg. That's a mix of foot to the floor madness driving and not so mad. As with anything, it depends how to drive it. Mine has a more aggressive camshaft which may make a bit of difference. I suggest you check out MSM Insurance as regards there kit car policy

I called MSM and they have come back with the best quote yet. Steep but predictable…
I have the Scenic provisionally sold within the family so just need to shift the JZR. I will be sad to see her go but I have the itch!
Iv been browsing the classifieds for a long time now and must say I do like your S. High miles doesn’t so much bother me as I will be piling them on, not just visiting shows. Fingers crossed I find a buyer soon, I may just be making a trip over to the Isle.

totally depends on how you drive it
with my Scooby could get 35 on a run or less than half that enjoying it
much the same with most of what Ive owned
Mini between 10 and 35 (45 weber)
Escort RS2000 between 7 and 30 (twin 45 weber)
even the diesel A4 between 35 and 50 (2.5 tdi)
hopefully the S between 10 and 30
At the same time depends on how many miles per year
if you do more than 20k at a second car rather than taking it easy with one
