Carpet edge banding

Hello all

Now I have done all of the mechanical work I was planning, I have turned my attention to the tatty carpets on the rear "parcel shelf" bit. The carpets that are on have just gone brittle and crumbly.

I want to make up my own and have the carpet already cut to shape but I just cannot find the edge banding stuff anywhere.

The carpets are black, with a cream couloured leather banding round the edges, about 1cm wide on each face, that is sewn on. I have tried unpicking the old stuff but it is really past it's best as well.

Does anyone know where to get this stuff from please...I have looked on Woolies site and the don't seem to have it.

Hi I Can,t help with the banding would would be interested to know how you cut the parcel shelf. I have this job to do and everytime I look at it I seem to approach it with a different decision. Did you just fit as you go or did you make a pattern?

Try your local traditional carpet shop (not allied etc) some of those places do still do carpet edging and binding, just need a yellow pages really, Good luck

I got some edge binding for the mats i made from Woolies, but i see they only have beige not cream, does that not match ??

If thats no good try here they do a magnolia colour leathercloth which might be nearer cream.

I took my new carpets to a local furniture upholstery that I found on Yell.com.

IRC they charged around £80 and took a couple of days.
