I'm thinking about "supercharging" my S3C (92). Does anybody have experience with this or does anybody know where I can find something about this issue?

Regards from Switzerland....

There was a feature on pistonheads about somebody who had done exactly that. I seem to remember the car was for sale recently. I got the impression it was a real labour of love and you could potentially save vast amounts of money by buying one that had already been done. Unless you're after the technical challenge or want to do it for the heck of it, you would probably be better off buying a V8S though.

Cheers,

Thank you Peter

I was looking for a SV8, but there was simply no V8 for sale in Switzerland and because we are not in the EU it is kinda hard to import one.

So I ve put my name on a waiting list for a V8 and still love my S3C.

I remember now, Lee Knieriem is the person to talk to:

I saw Lee and the Supercharged 'S' yesterday and can confirm that it is up for sale. If I remember it's up for £11,000 or so.
The car is still in very, very good condition and the paintwork looks superb, not to mention the chrome wishbones and other bits in the engine bay. If you want a supercharged 'S', this is probably the one to have.

Okay, okay, If you want a supercharged V6 'S' this is the one to have!

(And it has much more power than a standard V8S. Approx 250 BHP versus approx 195 BHP for the V8S).

Jas.

P.S. Pete, has anyone done a supercharged V8S other than the 'Italian Job' 2 litre tax dodge ones? (There is a rumble in the jungle that you have something up your sleeve for The Green Hornet according to a little bird who has whispered in my ear!!!! C'mon, spill the beans.....)

As you know, I'm on a personal crusade to prove there such a thing as too much power. Not an easy job, but worth while I think. Other than that ... no comment!

I spent most of the bank holiday weekend helping someone install an M90 on top of a 5.3l V8. The result was a lightweight V8 that thought it was an eight liter and revved like a bike engine. Performance was 'adequate', it would spin the 10" soft slicks in every gear and without the traction control it would have been undriveable. I reckon if I mounted one over the offside bank it would just about fit under the V8S bonnet bulge, and I can get an air/water intercooler under the standard plenum. But that would be silly, wouldn't it!

Wow!

Thank you all for the informations. No doubt the V8 is a good pick, but the supercharging of my S3C is just for my personal pleasure (and this pleasure will last long I guess....).

But thank you anyway!

Best regards

Don't know how easy it is to get the bits, but I've a feeling my brother knows a guy in Looe, (down in Cornwall), that reckons he can supercharge anything..

Be happy to dig out the details if you like..

Simon.
