The gauges seem to have a problem, the temp and oil pressure gauges are too reading high, also if I turn the lights on without the ignition on both gauges go right up to maximum, they used to be fine but started playing up over the last few days.

I was wondering if it could be a bad earth? If so where do the gauges earth?

You think so?

Well seeing as I only need to hold the pot while you bleed the brakes I’ll sort it tomorrow then while you attacking your car with the angle grinder.

hope you enjoy sunny Dartford!!!

Ok I sorted the gauges out, with some helpful advice from tower view. The temp and oil pressure was over reading, if you turned the lights on without the ignition on they would both read hot, also the speedo needle started bouncing when it got to 40.
I took the earth off from the chassis, its mounted by the near side front wheel arch, on a bolt that’s welded to the chassis, clean up the mounting washers and the connectors and it all back to normal.

Paul,

From what I saw Johno drove your car very carefully the other Sunday and kept within the speed limits. We did reach 69.9 mph on the Marlow by-pass

That must have been it then, as I never go above 35 mph, it just too scary at those speeds
