SCH2010 - Convoy from 'oop north'

Hi

After talking to Andy (Andy Nelson) & Alan (Wiz) at Chatsworth we feel that another convoy down to SCH2010 would be a good idea

Provisional plan is to aim to meet at Ferrybridge Services on the A1 (as per 2009) at 10:30/11:00 am on the Saturday, aiming to get to Weston Park (campsite) for about 2:00pm - I am happy to sort a route out again & then post it for approval.

Anybody else from 'oop north' up for it?

I will bring a bigger tool kit included holes saws, lengths of wire and anything else I can think of we will need for your next Jaye provides the entertainment session. Have you worked out what you are going to do yet

You must have read my mind on the way down this morning Jaye... I was going to ask if you had mapped out the route too. 2.00 arrival works great as I kind of volunteered to set up the BBQ for Mark at 2.30 but was doubtful we would be there in time.
I expect Ian MnS will be adding his name, sadly Graham is away on hol so is no longer my passenger and I'm still trying to persuade Tim Elfit to join us...

Proposed route - open to alternative suggestions if anyone has any...

Meet at Ferrybridge services at say 10:00 am (is that OK for the boys from further North??) - this will give us 4 hours to get there (so on time for BBQ set up, etc.) - which should be ample (assuming they don't decide to shut the A1 on us again

Down the A1 to the junction with the A57.

A57 - A619 (Chesterfield)

A632 (Matlock/Bakewell)

A615 (Bakewell)

A6 South (Derby)

B5012/B5023 (Ashbourne)

A515 (Uttoxeter)

A50 (Uttoxeter)

Looks good to me Jaye and 10.00 will be OK ... just dont go without meif I'm late as there are roadworks north of Dishforth...

Any suggestions for meeting up en-route Andy ? I could come off the A1 at Leeming and see you in Macdonalds carpark if you like ... that would be 9.00 ish I reckon ?

Flying into Blackpool from Spain at 14.00 on the Saturday (ash permitting). The cars all packed ready to go so hope to get to the camp site for the barby's start at 18.00. Could be a struggle trying to get the tent up with a in one hand and a intother.

Car got a good shakedown on Longers Scottish Tour border-crossing special stage through Kielder so fingers crossed its sorted and ready for SCH... I'll call you before the day to confirm our meeting point (and what colour sauce is required for the sarnie )

On reflection it would be much easier for me to join you at the A1/ A57 junction. Would this be OK? What time did you reckon you would get there? Could do with a phone number before the day to check on progress, or could PM mine to you (or both?)

Should be at A1/A57 junction about 11:00 - if memory serves me correctly there is a layby (southbound) just before the slip road for the turnoff - we could meet you there.

Meeting Donnysoutherner at A1/A57 junction around 11:00am (Simon you have my mobile - I will text you when we are setting off from Ferrybridge).

Meeting Dave M & gang at A6 junction (round-a-bout) before we head towards Ashbourne on the B5012/B5023 - Dave please can you PM me your mobile & I'll respond with mine - should be there around 12 noon.

Then on in convoy to Weston Park - hopefully arriving lunchtime.

I'm planning on meeting Andy at around 8.45/9.00 on A1 just south of Bedale...

Andy the Bedale junction looks really messy so instead of MacDonowts Service area how about meeting about a mile or so south of the junction ? Just past the turn-off for the Londonderry Lorry Park and before the RAF Leeming sliproad, theres an Access road (Gated) that we could stop at for a handshake and rejoin the A1 very easily from.

let me know if you are unsure but I could call you on the way down anyway...

So, Jaye we should be OK to get to Ferrybridge in time to leave again at 10.00 if thats your plan. Just dont go without us eh ?

The Leeming bar junction isn't too bad still the same layout just covered in mud! I think I know which layby you mean is it not covered by the roadworks now.

Other suggestion is Catterick south a very easy on and off, would be 8.45 in that case.

Your call give me a ring to confirm Friday night. Look forward to the convoy and the weekend.

its not actually a Lay-by but is an access road used by the "authorities" and is gated but its big enough to get on and off no problems - I've just emailed you a screenshot of Google streetview of the place... how cool is that ???

Nah... that means you start off by going North mate...

If you dont fancy the access road then the RAF Leeming exit is a clear sliproad and easy enough to rejoin if you would prefer...?

anyway, like you say I'll call you friday with the buttie order

lets hope thats the last roadworks we see on saturday anyway
