Clutch release bearing - be warned
Discussion
Rebuilt the gearbox a couple of weeks ago and fitted a new LUK clutch kit. After the gearbox had gone back in I noticed the clutch release arm was loose. Gearbox out again to find the release bearing had come out of the release arm, re fitted and box back in. All running well until changing the clutch slave cylinder this morning and again the release bearing came out of the release arm requiring gearbox out again and no Chatsworth. The LUK bearings have plastic clips which are a very loose fit in the arm and are c**p. The original bearings have metal clips and a more positive fit.
Save yourselves a lot of hastle and don't fit the LUK bearings or any other make with plastic clips, and if you do have one fitted be carefull working around the clutch slave cylinder. I will be getting another new bearing with the metal clips...

I experienced the same problem after my engine rebuild.
I'd bought a new clutch because while the engines out, you might as well.
The release bearing in the new kit had the plastic tabs which, to be blunt, were complete crap.
As my original clutch wasn't that old, I salvaged the original release bearing.
I really should remember to post little points like this, it may have saved you the hassle Tony, sorry.
