Easy start addiction

Hi all, while working on my car over the last year or so, with a naff battery, i found that squirting petrol in the plenum, the car would fire up quickly, before the naff battery went flat.
Now got a new battery, the car won't start, unless i squirt some petrol in the plenum, then it starts straight away, and run ok.
I read on hear that cars get addicted to easystart, maybe the ECU gets used to this, and sets the injectors up different?
Any ideas how to sort this, i have a hammer, lol.

Cars, tractors or lorries etc don't get addicted to anything .. all that's happening is that the fault you're covering up by introducing the starting agent is getting worse, and if you're using easystart then you're in real danger of damaging piston rings and head gaskets (the heavy knock you hear when it starts is detonation). Fix the fault instead of covering it up 
Be careful, as the other guy said, there is a detonation with easy start and this is what can happen if it goes wrong. I would suspest it is not running rich enough on start up (A Bit obvious I know) try checking all the sensors have good conns including the loom connections above the right cylinder bank.

That "rumour" was around when I was an apprentice,certainly in relation to diesel engines.Long before ecu's and clever dicky stuff, when diesel engines were fitted in what they were meant to be fitted in, lorries and vans
