Does anyone know what thread this is

It screws into the V8 oil pump then the sender screws into the back of it.

I need one cos I've bloody broke it!
Look how little metal there is!

I am guessing but it must be the same sender as the V6 surely?

The thread of the sender is very close to M10 fine (same as metric brake pipe fittings) but isn't - so possibly 7/16" UNF?
Thats a guess whats the thread of the imperial brake pipe fittings thats close to M10?

The thread into the oil pump I think may be 1/2" UNF but again thats a guess.

I'm glad it broke now and not while the car was running yikes

My guess is 1/4" BSPP (British standard Pipe parallel)for the outer thread, 19 tpi and approx 13.15mm dia. ?

Inner thread 1/8" BSPT (British Standard Pipe Tapered) 28 tpi and approx 9.7mm dia. ?

Probably got something similar at work but not back in till Wednesday or any hydraulic hose place (Pirtek etc.) or plumbers/pipe fitters merchants should have.

HTH Mike (thats if I'm right scratchchin)

I'm not sure it is a tapered thread - it just screws all the way in - thats part of the problem.
Originally it was fitted with PTFE tape but I'm not that keen on using PTFE again - but whats the alternative?

I've found an adaptor listed at Racing Green but its £9 plus £8 delivery, so I'll try and exhaust other sources first.

Thats why its called a parallel thread, normally sealed with a fibre or copper washer. PTFE thread tape is for tapered threads where, as the name suggests, the male thread is tapered and should tighten up about half way along its length. Oil or whatever is prevented from "creeping" up the thread by said tape or more often nowadays by "loctite" or similar thread sealing compounds.

Don't mean to lecture but one of my "pet hates" is PTFE tape used on things it was never intended for, like parallel threads or compression fittings ! But having said that, in an emergency i have twisted it into a kind of string and wrapped around the top of a parallel thread to form a temporary PTFE sealing washer.

Copper washer - good plan that will work I think.
If I'd engaged my brain I'd have figured out the parallel thread eh?
