Locking wheel nut
Discussion
Got the brakes on the car today got the wheels on lowered it of the stands.
Then set about tightening up all the wheel nuts. Torque wrench at 95 all went well untill the last locking wheel nut and it got close then spun
might be the stud or nut thread gone or could be the nut has sheared either way it just spins.
So a trip to the tyre place tomorrow

Went to the tyre place today they couldn't do anything said it had to go to a garage.
Had another go and borrowed some special sockets to remove rounded wheel nuts. The problem is the thing isn't stuck it just spins.
Tried jacking it up and removing the other nuts then tried to wind it out whilst a friend pulled the wheel out. Still just turns. I'm thinking one of the new studs could have rounded on the hub and is turning with the nut.
Need to get to work in it tuesday and every where is shut.

Its a long shot but I has the same problem with my old escort van , the splines on the stud corroded and as your does , just spun . What I did was run a blob of weld over the back of the stud and gun with an arc welder , this did the trick with the second attempt, I even carried on using the same stud after ! (not recommended !!) I suppose this is access dependant though .

How about these
I don't think you would get them on due to the nut being partially recessed, I would go with the Start drilling it now approach, that way you have a full day tomorrow to sort the job, I would drill off centre so as to drill through the threaded part of the nut and stud with progressively bigger bits then when you have a hole as close to the outer edge of the nut as you can get (dont use one that would remove the outer edge of the nut as it will grip and snap), get a small chisel and split the nut clarenceboddiger said:

I had this happen to me a few years ago. I managed to get a hack saw blade between the brake drum and the wheel and cut the stud off. I wish I could say that it was easy but it took ages even with an air powered hack saw! - and access to do it wasn't at all good....
Going with this idea - broke two drills the last one stuck in the nut.Got a blade at the back but its hard work spent a couple of hours on it and gave up when my fingers hurt to much. Think its half way or more through.
Will get back to it over the weekend.

Got a couple of hubs if you damage the old one
Cheers Norman, Some one suggested removing the hub nut (destroying the center cap) taking the whole thing off and working from the back. Will have another go with the hacksaw blade tomorrow.
Typically the sun is out and i can't take the S out

May be wrong but don't think that one will work. hole in wheel not big enough for socket ? think i read somewhere you have to put the "spacesaver" on if trying to stophub spinning when loosening/tightening nut ?Will have another go with the hacksaw blade tomorrow.

Hate to see you scrap a centre cap for no gain.
