Braided Brake Lines - Installation......
Discussion
I'm now in possession of all the parts to do the brake upgrade to 285mm front discs.
I am spacing the calipers, replacing the pads with Green Stuff and changing the lines for braided ones. Plus Dot 5.1 fluid aswell. This is where the questions arise.
The lines supplied are longer than the flexihose at the front of the wheel. In fact they are long enough to go right through to the caliper from the brake line mount on the chassis.
It does seem sensible to do this as to not would mean there was still a small section of flexipipe (mounted on rear of hub).
I have seen pictures off this conversion all the way through and just wondered on peoples opinions or experiences with this.
Gadgit, I still have your pics and intend to copy the mount by cutting a small section of the current bracket away and then sleeving it.
Cheers

Good Man!
Well worth doing this mod as you have seen by the pictures. The critical thing is to get the length right which on the standard fittings is 20 inches including the ends. If there long enough then ok. If there to long they can be cut back and a new olive fitted for about £1.50.
Stainless braded hose is about £10 per metre, and the ends are about £4 each so the job is ok to do. For any one who is not handy with tools, etc, then there is the complication as said by Johno (Mark) of making a sleeve to fit in a slot which has to be cut just wide enough to take the cable. I turned one on my small lathe and it had to be tapped in and glued into place just to stop it moving.
Ideal would be to make the slot and sleeve for the hole and take the sleeve to the brake hose place and have it fitted at the same time. It can have a flange on one end if required (looks nice like this)
The beauty of this system means you can unbolt the bottom bracket and discard it, if you want.
Still got pics if required for anyone thinking of this mod.
I do believe LEEBEE has done this as well! I would like to see a picture of this Lee if you got one.
Keep up the good work Mark!

Yes I have the same set-up and it works well, what I have done is put the original outer spiral cable over the braided hose and cable tied this to the original bracket on the hub as this allows enough free movement when the wheel is moved.I will see if I have a picture of it, but I have over 600 tech pictures so far so it may take a while!
