Over the winter I have stripped down the front end to replace suspension and ARB bushes, engine and gearbox mounts,servo/master cylinder ( upgrade from old SAAB S2 set up), brake discs/pads,radiator (recored),drop links, steering bulkhead bearing and top ball joints.
It's all painted now and I'm begining to put things back on.

A couple of questions just to check I'm doing it ok and to check I'm not missing anything

1/ Brake discs ~ I clean these with meths first?
2/ Caliper bolts ~ do I need some sort of thread lock product on these?
3/ Calipers again ~ the bits that slide in and out have some kind of grease on them. Should I put new grease on, if so what sort? I know that grease and brakes need to be kept apart!
4/ Do I pack the bulkhead bearing with grease before fitting. If so is copper slip OK?

As you can see I don't have a great deal of spanner experience! ( But I'm learning fast)

All polybushes are packed with the grease they came with, others are coated with copperslip.
All suspension settings will be set by my local garage.

So, as well as the questions I have are there any other things that I have missed/ should be aware of.

Thanks folks ~ off outside again to put more bits on!

Cheers
Tim

The Bolts that hold the carriers to the uprights must have thread lock on them, otherwise they will fall out while you're driving, this is not fun smile

You want a bit of copper grease on all the sliding parts, so where the outer pad touches the carrier and on the pins that the caliper slides on. The place you absolutely don't want any is between the pads and the discs. If you get a bit on the disc putting it together clean it off properly before driving.

you need gliptone. Match any bag to any shoes. Or vice versa.

Tim

if you are getting scuddies to do your setup remember that the geometry settings in the Bible and Haynes data sheet on Pies site has a typo which states the Camber is +1 degrees but it should read -1 degrees

K wink
