I remember there was a post recently about which way up the rising rate springs should be fitted? Just to add to the debate, I noticed this afternoon that there are signs of quite heavy contact between the spring and my beautifully engineered anodised Nitron dampers. There is a static clearance of about a quarter on an inch between the inside of the spring and the body of the damper, so the spring must have moved a heck of a long way to make contact. There are no signs of contact on the outside of the spring or the spring seats, so I think this rules out something pushing the spring. All I can think is that the inertia of the spring is deflecting it sideways and at some point it is hitting resonance. I did not expect this effect to be so pronounced, maybe there are definite reasons to put the heavier, close packed coils near the top where there is less acceleration.

Aso found that the front tyres are as marginal as I thought, but the rears are a *lot* worse on the inside edge and one is right down to the canvas at one point, OOOPS! Lucky I have some spares to keep me mobile while I sort out the replacements.
