how to stop oil leaking past diff pinion shaft

Hi All,
After being foxed for over a year I think I have finally identified where the oil is leaking from my diff. Its not the pinion seal itself which has recently been replaced. I think the oil is leaking past the pinion shaft splines past the nut and then coming out between the pinion shaft flange and the prop shaft flange. Hope that makes sense.
Any idea how I can stop this. I was thinking of seperating the prop flange from the diff flange and putting a smear of hermatite between the two before doing it all up again.
Any better ideas??

P.S. Gave my rather battered exhaust to the local hot rod shop and asked if they could cut it open and have a look whether the baffles and internals were loose as it was resonating badly. He rang me this morning and said 'was it loud'. I said of course. Turns out internals have competely collapsed and all the fibreglass wool has been blown out. Effectively I was running straight through pipes. To be honest I'm a bit worried it might be too quiet now..!!

Presume the diff has a breather but not checked mine. If so, I would check the pipe is not kinked or blocked. Also, did you check the pinion bearing for play when you changed the seal?
I have applied sealant between the two flanges before for a similar problem but not on a TVR. The principle is the same though and it stopped the leak.
I am sure someone else will be along shortly who has more experience with TVR's and may have had a similar problem.

I had a similar problem on my S3 ,i thought the oil seal had gone on the diff, the one where the prop joins the diff. It had over time sprayed copious amounts of oil all over the rear of the chassis, so much so that when i cleaned it all the chassis was perfect.[now theres an idea!] I had the diff serviced, new seals etc, and the guy who did it said the old ones were fine. He said the oil does indeed travel down the splines, and his remedy, which i used, was to use silicone and plenty of it on the nut and splines on the inner face of the diff flange, and also do the same on the inner face of the propshaft flange, and you shall be leak free.Echo all the others who said check your breather pipe is clear, the diff needs to vent, and if the pipe is blocked, it will force itself out somewhere else.
