Sierra Type 9 box isnt it, loads of em in every scrap yard

My S2 has never broken down in 10 years. I know it well enough to spot the symptoms before it stops !

Tried about half a dozen back in the summer for a diff mount (not avl. new) same story everywhere, "Don't see many of them now mate, and if we do they get crushed nobody wants bits for them anymore" !!

But type 9 box's do come up on Ebay quite regularly, v popular in "kit cars" I believe. (NO, TVR's are not kit cars )

ETA..... think has to be the "right" type9 ? input shaft wrong on box from 4 cyl. cars (majority of Sierras)

You obviously didn't read my post a few months ago when i ripped the teeth of one of the gears in my gearbox and smashed a syncro when giving it the beans one night.

I managed to find a gearbox for £50 after visiting a local man who does up old cars as the type 9 box that is fitted to the S is the version that they don't want with the longer input shaft, these can be sourced from V6 and diesel engined Fords.

Strong but not indestructable !!(must have been a LOT of beans)
