Steering UV Joint Gaiter

Some time ago I seem to remember someone fitting a rubber gaiter to their steering column universal joint. I keep mine well greased (ooh err Mrs ) but it does get covered in muck and thought it'd be best to cover it.

Does anyone know where I might be able to get one that fits or what I should be ordering.

I`ve heard a section of bicycle inner tube and cable ties are just the job

I was stripping/breaking my old Misubishi Pajero (Shogun) and used the one off that which fits quite well... a visit to the scrapyard should give you plenty choice...

Believe others have used a steering rack gaiter.

Personally I'm not convinced, unless it is perfectly sealed it could trap water in rather than out ?

Thanks for the imput everyone, i'll have a visit to the local motor factors and see what they've got or failing that the local bike shop.
