I've put the left head back on, matching the gasket and torqued it down as per instructions. the set is a Clough and wood, and apparently there ok sets.

Now the right one fits on ok, BUT, the triangle shaped slots at the bottom for the water flow are the other end of the engine. However the gaskets fit the waterways and all the other oil and other slots line up ok. Does this matter is the question?
Now I don't think it does, but for my piece of mind, put me out of my misery so I can get on!

Reports on the local news in cambridge sunday night of a minor earthquake (ground tremmers)in the Verginia waters area !

all the beast!

The gaskets should have come with 'Front Top' stamped on them to identify which way round etc etc

Mine were also identifiable by the way they sat on the block as they were held by one small pipe, so I didn't need to have cut the top off 2 headbolts to use guides and dowels.

I am always surprised at how small the holes for the waterways are in new gaskets. I can't remember being struck by the variances you describe in pattern but as long as the gasket is marked the correct way then they should be correct.

Do you not have the old gaskets which will definitely have the marking on them and you can verify new against old ?

Thanks Johno, got them sorted now. I think I had one of those moments when you can't see the wood for the trees, if you know what i mean. I've now got the triangle waterways all at the back, which appears to be right. thanks for the info.
P.S. Is it right you've got speed six throttle pot.
If so how much, is it a problem to fit!

Thats another pint!

Gadgit,

See Paceracings post on this. I did have a S6 TP on mine without any issues for a long time. Far longer than any of the standard Ford parts.

Having just got the car back from Tower View I have once again got a standard TP. It was prelaced as the S6 TP was showing soem variance when hot so we decided to change it.

Jason has spoken to TVR Centre and they have confirmwed that you can use the Cerberra 4.2 & 4.5 TP's. He's going to check it over with them this week and will post the result.

I had all sorts of failures with the standard item until I changed to the Cerberra one which then lasted for over a year !! I had done 5 up to then !!

Hope your taking pictures of this work on your car and if you're not careful we'll have the next S meet in your garage !!!

Cheers

I just bought the 'new' TP and the invoice says 4.2 Cerbera, as the S6 apparently rotates in a reverse direction. The TP cost £17.60 but you need the new loom connector which has gold contacts. That costs £19.25. Solder the new connector wires into the loom and hey presto!
I haven't fitted it yet, but will before Saturday hopefully, so i'll post up my results.

In the meantime, if you are driving the car and it the TP is causing problems, you can disconnect it. I once did this for about 6 months, but the result is the ECU runs in 'emergency' mode and power is down by about 10 BHP.
