V8S Wiring Loom

Evenin' All,

The car is now going back together after the chassis refurb, and I'm thinking about replacing the loom whilst everything is in bits. But I have no idea where to start looking or if I give the old one to a car sparks whether they could make one up. I also think I've heard that it has lots of rovery bits it doesn't really need on it. Just wondering if anyone has any experience of this?

The engine loom is pretty much seperate to the rest of the car loom, presumably because the engine loom is a standard range rover loom. There's a few loops to take up the slack, but on mine there doesn't seem to be many surplus wires apart from a couple near the throttle linkage which I think are something to do with aircon.
Range Rover looms do turn up on ebay and are available elsewhere.
It might be useful to cut down some of the wires what are too long, but to be honest I think you may end up spending a lot of money for little reward.

Cheers Barkychoc, that's a really handy diagram. You're probably right on the cost v rewards, there's nothing wrong with mine but was just wondering if its likely to have perished over the years. It's not as if I don't have enough to do

If your loom is like mine some of the rubber boots will be split - like the ones on the injectors.
If I ever get my car back on track I intend to get some of these as replacements - I think the downward angle ones will work much better and stop it splitting again.

Some of my loom tape was hanging off - I've redone much of it with self amalgamating tape - hard work but it does look a lot better.
