Looking for an S3

I am a new member who is looking for an S3. I have owned a Scimitar GTE 6A for some years and all sorts of other classics before that but really want a convertible - and what else sounds as good as an S series at this sort of money? I have tried an S2 and an S3 but I am 6ft 2in and the long doors do help... I live between Warwick and Stratford upon Avon. I have seen one car advertised which looks about right - I am getting too old to carry out lots of heavy restoration work. Any advice welcome, I have read about the usual issues about outriggers and door dropping.

The car that I have seen is a 1990 S3 in Yorkshire. It had a body lift and outriggers replaced a few years ago and was resprayed last year. Other work has been done including new dashboard veneer. Youtube video is:

If you want to look at a local one then PM me and I'll try to support you. I've done enough work on mine now to have a fair idea of what's likely to break/not work.
Everyone on here is fairly friendly (if killingly witty at times).
If you want to look at one in Yorkshire then there's probably someone who could look over the oily and electrical bits with you.

Go and take a look.Wow! Thank you for all the responses and offers for help. There certainly is a friendly population of S owners here... I would love to have someone to look at a car with me - I have many years experience looking at cars and I know that specific model knowledge is invaluable. It is so easy to miss something, or discount a fault as being unimportant when, in fact, it is a real show stopper. I will PM people as rquested. I have a sense of humour - you can't own a Scimitar without one! As I said before I live between Warwick and Stratford and only 100 paces to the local pub. I've never managed to work out how many paces it is back home.....
Tony I found the buyers guide on the S Series guide a good starter for 10. Main thing for me was that the car I would buy had a good chassis, as this is big money to have replaced. Fuel tank is also pricey, most other items can be replaced relatively cheaply if you shop about. Agree with you on the forum, great bunch on here always on hand to solve a problem. Good luck with your search and keep us posted on your inevitable purchase.

Don't recognise the car and by the look of the surrounding buildings chances are its not local to me. (East Yorkshire)
I'd always ask - why the respray?

I've just sent Dale a PM about his car - thanks for the advice.
I like the colour of the Yorkshire car - it is north of Halifax by the way - and am intrigued like some of you about its' history. When I get chance I will ring the owner and get some more background info. It iis just such bad weather to look at cars at the moment!!!
