replacing radio casette

The time has come for the old radio cassette to be updated. However, as expected, the leads from the new CD player are not compatible with the socket on the car.

Is there a unversal attachment or simple way to get round this (as I am hopelesswith anythinge electrical. Or mechanical come to that! )

Wire a modern Din connector into the cars loom. You can get them at most motorist shops. Usually come with the wiring instructions.

You could get a local auto electrician to wire it for you and fit a new cd/tuner at the same time.

Once the wirings updated you can swap head units around.

It may also be useful to search for the manual for the existing unit to confirm the existing colour coding - just makes it a bit easier.................

If you're getting a modern head IMHO its a good idea to take the +12V direct from battery.. the ignition feed was fine though as this only draws low power. mine draws over 10A at 12V and I really didn't like the gauge of the TVR loom.
