Goodridge hoses

I didn't know that there were different kits for the S and I have the wrong one -I bought them in March this year but only just got around to opening the box to fit them - I have the 5 hose kit (STV0910 -5P) which cost me over £50 and will sell on at a loss if any one wants them - email me

Had my six hose set from them (TTV0920/6) ans more recently pair of Griff rears for impending disc conversion.

Cheers for that except now I have bought 2mtres of Goodridge hose and various end pieces to make my own so the kit is superfluous and available. Like you I have also purchased rear discs which I will fit (I'm trying to find a 4.1 or 4.2 diff instead of the standard 3.6)

4.2 maybe its because my daily drive is a diesel but my S3 sounds like its reving its nuts off at 70 already, I'd like a 3.2 !

Me too, are you sure you're not looking for the wrong thing ratio here?

No - I'm looking for a top speed of no more than 130 at 6000rpm (I believe the 3.64 gives about 150 at 6000) - more interested in acceleration

you have to remember a 6 cylinder car at 4000 sounds like a 4 cyl at 6000

workings out:

engine revs - 6000
5th Gear 0.825 gives equiv revs of 7272.72
axle ratio 3.64 gives 1998 rpmim or 119880 rph
tyres 215/60/15 do 802 revs per mile so at 6000rpm speed = 149.48

with a 4.2 diff

gives 1731.6 rpmin or 103896 rph
using 225/45/17 also gives 802 revs per mile giving top speed of 126.7 at a safe 6000 (Cossy 24v with approx 240bhp which should be safe to 6700 I have been told)

You going Drag Racing ?

Each to their own but surely a low ratio diff ( Iknow, its not the differential that gives the ratio , its the final drive gears)will only benefit the initial "get the car moving" bit (even more wheelspin), you'll be needing second awfully quick ? to me seems a high price to pay for having engine "reving away" at cruising speeds.
I'm looking at going the opposite way, a higher first gear conversion !


ETA.... wish my car could pull 6000 in fifth !!!!

I'm going to rally (tarmac) it and would LOVE a higher first gear but my budget is tight. I will possible need to use 2nd to get away and use it like a 4 speed unit.
