recouloring the softtop

Hi

thinking of recouloring my softtop on my V8S.
Has anyone tried products from Renovo.

what material is the softtop made of?

I have used Renovo black, and it works well, though my roof wasn't too badly faded. I normally do it once a year and you need to follow the directions to avoid striping, - do a complete panel without stopping and not in direct sunlight - but apart from that its excellent.

Roof is mohair from memory.

Can also recommend the Renovo black colour restorer, but would not go with the Renovo ultra proofer though, 2 good coats and rain still soaked into the fabric, have seen some done with canvas waterproofer where rain just runs off it. Don't have brand name at hand but someone might do shortly.

Fabsil or Thompsons waterseal (as used on brickwork!) have both worked very well for me.

I second Longers recommendation.
Did use Fabsil once, but have used Thomson Water Seal for over 10 years on my TVR roofs to great effect.

Not sure about colouring but reccomend aerospace 303, water beads off the roof better than a freshly waxed panel. supposed to last a few years too.

i used renevo on mine and looked great
once you put it on let it dry
ithought i missed a bit first time and went over it a bit and it looked streaky
had to do it again

Hi Alan, do you apply that with a brush or is it a spray on application - what works best.

Comes in a squirty bottle but i brushed it out to avoid it going on the window and interior.

Will find a link shortly.

I used Fabsil from a camping shop and have never had a problem since, it was about £15 for large tin. Did a trailer tent with it also and that worked fine.

Just re done my soft top using Thompsons water seal,very pleased with result. B and Q £11.80 for 2.5 lires. Thoroughly recommended.

I have used Renovo and found it difficult to apply without it being streaky.
This depends (I think) on the outside temperature (don't apply in direct sunlight), how clean the panels are prior to application etc
As has been said, it is essential to follow the instructions, but I have to say I was not overwhelmed by the results of my two applications.
