ARB sitting high/ Engine sitting low??

I'm changing my suspension bushes to polys both on the wishbones and ARB.I noticed tonight that my ARB is touching the sump.Does this mean that my engine mounts are worn and need replacing? Is there an easy fix? Having bought the car half restored and not driven it yet I cannot say if this affects the driving.Please help!!

Yep... You need new engine mounts from rally design. You can add spacers as a temp fix but new mounts are your best option

It does suggest the engine is sitting a bit low. Has the engine been out? Perhaps it's just not positioned quite right when the mounts were tightened? There isn't much of a gap but you don't want them actually touching otherwise it will make a hell of a racket and may start damaging the sump.

Take a look, a torch and a mirror is helpful if you don't have the front of the car in bits. If the mounts look like the one on the right they'll need replacing or spacers as an interim fix, the one on the left is the Rally Design part:



With new mounts you'll get around 15-20mm clearance to the sump.

Engine has been out and has had a sump replacement from what I can gather,will try spacers for the time being.Has anyone got the direct link to rally design mounts?

If the engine has been out and re-fitted is it possible the wrong mounts were used? You need the 50mm parts but I have heard the use of 35mm mounts being discussed.

Beware! This happened to me and somehow managed to crack the sump!

Thanks very much guys, will buy two and get on with it.Can I displace the weight of the engine (Plank of wood) and jack up under the sump or will I have to hire a hoist?

No need for a hoist. Remove starter motor. I took the complete engine mount assembly off. (incl engine bracket). Pre-assemble rubber mount to engine bracket and fit back as an assembly. Some bolts and nuts difficult to get to but not impossible.

Quick q - mine are sagging and need to be replaced - I've got a local mechanic who says he can do it, but how many of these should I buy to replace all that are used on the engine mounting assembly?
