reversing lights not working

reversing lights on my newly purchased V8S are not working...its not a fuse/bulb..

is there a switch under the transmission tunnel by the gear lver that can cause the problem?

If you remove the gear lever gaiter (the cosmetic leather effect one and then the rubber one underneath) you can just get to the switch - you will at least be able to tell if the wires are connected.
I will post a pic later of the switch in the gearbox I can't do it from work.

Yes.

There's a switch screwed into the side of the gearbox that has to be set to the right depth to operate when reverse is selected. There's also some relatively fragile wiring, and a connector between that switch and the main loom. Any problems here could prevent the lights from coming on. If the wiring is damaged and shorts against anything it can also blow fuses at random.

A two owner, 53,000miles, FSH, all receipts car in original condition. Lot's to do though, and firstly I will book in a session at Austec for an engine tune and remap to ensure that it is running smoothly

Was the first owner in Jersey?
Looks like one I considered a couple of years ago (at that point it was with the original owner and on Jersey plates) but in the end I just couldn't be bothered to go over there to look at it - I bought one 10 miles down the road instead

Correct - I also remembered the ad on PH when I was looking at S3C's.

The chassis is good (though a more thorough inspection is needed of course), the car runs very well and still feels quite tight compared to the others I drove. Gearbox is smooth and no problems with 3rd as I had heard (and experienced on one car).
There is some body work details to attend to with the bonnet and passenger sill needing to be resprayed. Indicators need replacing but fortunately I have two new ones and I will change the lights (Since i need to anyway being in Sweden)
The interior is also not to my taste being grey trimmed in red, but I will have this retrimmed at DC trim (good prices compared to others I rang and they have TVR colour matching abilities as they were the original trimmers I believe).

But given the whole 'feel' of the car these are cosmetic things and can be fixed assuming funds are available.

The garage in Jersey also promised to let me have all bills (so I will check the ones I have in the history file) Service book stamped by them every 3000 miles until the previous owner imported in 2007. He was also a guy who seems to have looked after the car, though not used the car much. Hence a visit to Austec :-)

Have you checked that 12v is actually getting to the bulb holder ?

The mixture of the Ford fittings, the vulnerable position in the boot and TVR wiring are notorious for gremlins.

Where do the wires go that are not connected to the gearbox?
Had the car on a ramp today to see if I could locate these wires (and see the switch), but frankly could not see anything resembling this at all.
Do I need to remove the exhaust to get to this or is the only access under the gear lever gaiter?

Would I benefit anyhting if I removed the centre console?
