Electric Windows ??

Hi all,
would appreciate some assistance - took the S out for a great drive today - went really well, but......the electric windows won't go back up !
Thought it would be the fuse, but the passenger side has a little bit of go in the window motor - it will move down a tiny bit, so thought can't be the fuse then, unless seperate fuses for each side ??
The driver's side has no go in it at all up or down or noise from the motor.
Could it be both set's of motors going at the same time ? - if so, I'm guessing something has caused them to overload and if so, what can I check to ensure it doesn't happen again ?
Any help/guidance much appreciated ?

I have the same problem with my drivers window (when fully down) I have to pull on the top of the window to get it started and help the motor - about a 1/4 way up the motor is OK to take the window the rest of the way.
It can have something to do with whether the window is sat 'straight & true' in it's runners or (as in my case) the motor is 'feeling it's age'. Are your doors fitting properly - if so, less likely to be the 'straightness' of your window & more to do with ageing motors I'm afraid.

On mine I've also had the loose connectors in the back of the switch. Sounded like your drivers side problem, i.e. no motor sound. The fix for me was to flip out the side tunnel trim (S2 dash) and waggle the bunch of wires on the back of the switch. That's fixed it for the last 5 months.
On later S3 cars you can probably pull the switch out from the front to get to the wires? The switch wasn't that firmly in on my car?
My drivers side window is also badly aligned (another job I haven't got around to yet). So it goes down and sticks there. As per previous posting I pull the window up while pressing the button to assist it. Always worked so far.

Driver's side was a loose connection, but behind the door card.
Passenger side was either a loose washer?? or a bit of the protective sleeving from the motor cable getting caught in the window guide.
Strange that both happened on the same trip.
Great weather for a drive today - or in my case wash & wax- Used the Turtle Wax platinum - fantastic finish !!
