MOT time. Specialist or local garage?

It's that time of the year again.

I used to take my S to my local specialist who did a pre-MOT check and got it through the MOT. Since they have now gone, I'm undecided what to do this year.

I could take it to my local MOT station and see what happens. Alternatively I could give str8six a call and see if they would want to do the necessaries. The latter will (I'm sure) cost more and I'm not sure if it would be asking too much of them as it isn't service time yet. It is a pain that the MOT and service no longer coincide.

As usual, my time is limited as taking time off work is difficult.

Why does everyone else do? Local or specialist?

Local garage that has done my M.O.T's for the last 4 yrs and have been very thorough

I opted for a specialist that could fix any niggles quickly.
However that was after a rebuild, if I was confident I would consider somewhere that's convient for you e.g. you local garage.

The place behind the Shell garage in Ickenham are supposed to be TVR-friendly (I believe Bernard used them for his Griffith MOTs).
