Broke Down Today :-(
Discussion
Yeh, can you F***ing believe it !!
First day back at work and I'm 3 hrs late !!!
Put foot don and car won't go, suddenly sparks back into life with a big bang and then promptly dies. Suspect fuel, so fill it up. Starts fine and goes for 15 yards before same thing, and again and again and then get out and have a look around.
Fuel getting to cylinders but seem to hav no spark. No kit with me so call out Breakdown peeps.
Get back to their yard (just down road) and after fiddling around we find that one of the Coil wires (nearest the plenum) has been broken and only held with abit of tape !!
New connector and hey presto of and away again.
Probably upset being removed for cylinder heads and service at the weekend and was always going to give up in rush hour traffic in London rather than on the way back from Devon yesterday. All well in the land of the S again !!
My new name is lucky !!
Cheers

Mark, look on the bright side, you had all the top end of your engine off and the only new problem you may have introduced was one electrical connector
Could have been worse.
How's the car running now?
Cheers,
Dave.
K400,
I will not being going back. The wiring connector to the coil was fine when I took it down there.
The car was running poorly when I took there and they didn't manage to get it running much better. I will have to take the car to a certain London specialist to look at it for me.
On the drive back I get the whiff of burning oil, again yesterday and then this morning I've got smoke coming from under the bonnet on the nearside. After investigation I find that the nearside rocker cover gasket has been done up so tight it has split ! I wouldn't expect a YTS boy to do this, it amateurish (sp).
The other S that went with us was equally dissapointed for different reasons. They refitted his exhaust and replaced the clamps to eradicate a leak, then road tested it and handed it back telling him all was well. That is except for the exhaust manifold leak causing a rather loud and repetitive noise. They only admitted this after we took the car back to them as he had his car a day earlier than the rest of us. It was this noise that he had asked them to investigate and resolve if possible !
In their defence the Cerberra and Wedge that came aswell both seemed very happy and have had no issues yet.
They looked round my car and found no serious issues with it and were impressed at it generally. It is just more evidence to me that I do a better job myself than paying someone £300 + to do it for me !!
This is the first service it has had in 35,000 miles. All of the previous servicing and 90% of te work has been done by me. That has saved me over £1800 in servicing costs. I do not believe my cars residual value is that great that it will effect it adversely if I don't bother letting anyone else near it !
The dilemna I have is that these days I do not have the time I used to and need to let someone else do the servicing occasionally.
I am about to contact tham to see what they say and will report that back. Apparently they will sort my issues.
Cheers
