B@llocks - need help with brake upgrade
Discussion
bought new discs (283mm) and 4pot calipers (7R) from different places a while ago and just got round to fitting and guess what - they dont

both discs and calipers were supposed to fit the Sierra Cossy - they do fit individually but not together as the mounting positions overlap - the 'top hat' on the disc is 32.6mm which is very close to the original 240mm disc dimension
any ideas as to how I can sort this out??

I think I've seen someone on here refer to a difference between the 2 and 4 wheel drive Discs?, maybe worth exploring that avenue? As Peter says, discs have got be the cheaper route.

I think you have a problem there - because you need discs with a greater offset which then may foul on the hub.
Have a look at http://www.brakepart.co.uk
You can look up the braking components of various fords in their online shop, and they have technical diagrams showing disc dimensions etc.

Isn't it the caliper thats normally threaded so looking at the pictures its got to go to the right so that mounting bolts pass through suspension upright into the caliper ? This would then need a dics with less offset OR how about longer wheel studs and a spacer between hub and disc ?
Just had another look at photo's, does look like caliper "wants" to go left but then, disc problems aside, how is it bolted on, disc stops you bolting through upright into caliper (if threaded) or bolts and nuts somehow or tap/thread upright M12?

These are definately 2WD Cossy 4pots (have 'Ford' and R7 on the casting
I have purchased a set of TVR AP Racing 4 pots for an 03 Tasmin (radial mount)and am getting mounting brackets made at a local engineering company. My discs (283mm)are only just big enough for these calipers.
The cossy ones will be places back on ebay
